Blepharoplasty Plastic Surgery
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure that is used to sculpture the upper or lower eyelid. This is acheived by the removal of excess tissue and its repositioning. The muscles and tendons around the eyelids are reinforced as well. Blepharoplasty is used to improve the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids as with age these become sagging (upper eyelids) and puffy (lower eyelids).
How the procedure is carried out: Unobtrusive external incisions area made along the naturally occuring lines of the eyelids - the upper lid creases and underneath the lower eyelid lashes (alternatively it can be performed from the inside surface of the lower eyelid). After effects include bruising and swelling around the eye which dissipates within one or two weeks. Final results of the procedure are seen after 1 to 2 months.
Time for procedure: From 1 to 3 hours
Potential problems: Check with your doctor/ ophthalmologist before undergoing this procedure if you suffer from any of the following:- Thyroid problems, high blood pressure/other circulatory disorders,cardiovascular disease, dry eye or lack of tears, diabetes.
